Chambers and Partners, a London-headquartered research company that publishes detailed rankings of the world’s leading law firms and lawyers, recently named Harris Bricken one of the top cannabis law firms in the United States and singled out two of our cannabis business lawyers for special recognition.
Harris Bricken has once again been recognized by Chambers and Partners in its Chambers USA 2021 Guide.
Chambers and Partners assesses law firms on criteria including:
Technical legal ability
• Professional conduct
• Client service
• Commercial astuteness
In its rankings of individual lawyers, Chambers and Partners honored Harris Bricken Los Angeles partner Hilary Bricken in its Cannabis Law section, describing her “As close to a legal legend in this space as we have. She’s very strong and so smart, one of the best.” Chambers and Partners went on to say, “She’s developed a name for herself as a leader in identifying issues in this space.”
Harris Bricken Portland partner Vince Sliwoski, as also honored for his work in Cannabis Law and described as “outstanding to work with, very collaborative and practical”.
Harris Bricken was one of the first law firms in the country to provide corporate, transactional, and compliance legal services to the cannabis industry, starting in 2010, representing newly formed medical cannabis businesses in Washington State. Since then, Harris Bricken has grown its Cannabis Law practice to an industry-leading position, representing investors, lenders, banks, credit unions, ancillary goods and services businesses, multi-state operators, grow companies, distributors, dispensaries, processors, and manufacturers. We were also one of the first law firms to represent hemp and CBD companies and we find ourselves once again on the cutting edge, representing psychedelics companies.
“We are honored to have been recognized again by Chambers, which incorporates client feedback into its ranking methodology,” says Hilary Bricken. “Our Cannabis Law practice has grown exponentially since 2010, but our commitment to our clients has remained the same, helping them build durable legal and corporate frameworks for long-term growth and success.
“We committed to the cannabis industry early on, and beyond advising individual businesses, our cannabis attorneys are committed to fortifying, defending, and building credibility for the industry as a whole, not only in the United States, but globally,” says Dan Harris, who heads up the firm’s international law practice group. As laws continue to change, the race is on for market share in the cannabis industry around the world. Our lawyers – who have on-the-ground experience in nearly two dozen countries – understand international laws, legal systems, regulatory environments and the broader global trade context, and are well known for vetting, structuring and closing complex cross-border transactions.”
